I read across every shelf I can reach: psychology and philosophy, physics and folklore, Wodehouse and witches. I think as much about why genres work as what lives inside them. I write; I think about ideas for their own sake; I believe a good email is a small literary form and that beautiful things are worth making carefully. This library is where all of it lives.
Books have always been conversations across time. If you’d like to continue one, you’re welcome to write to me. I read and reply to every letter.

My reading life also keeps a public diary. Shelves, ratings and the long to-read list live on Goodreads, growing by the week.

Every library grows by word of mouth. If a book changed the way you see things, tell me what it was — I’m always making room on a shelf.
